Anne Hathaway Says She Was ‘Shocked’ to Learn About Her Third Pregnancy: ‘It Was Our Buzzer-Beater’
Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway has revealed that she was completely surprised when she discovered she was expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman.
The 43-year-old actress, who is preparing for the release of Christopher Nolan’s highly anticipated film The Odyssey, recently shared the joyful news that she and Shulman are expecting another baby. The couple are already parents to two sons, Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.
Although Hathaway admitted they were trying for another child, she said the pregnancy still came as an unexpected surprise.

Appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers, Hathaway laughed as she reflected on the moment.
“Oh, my gosh. It’s amazing. We knew what we were doing, but we were so shocked it worked. We were so shocked it went this way, so we’re calling this one our buzzer-beater.”
Host Seth Meyers, who also has three children, reassured Hathaway that life with a bigger family becomes easier over time.
“I have three, it’s the best,” Meyers said. “Weirdly, it goes on like autopilot. Once there’s three, there’s not much you can do except watch. It goes from you’re terrified, and then it turns into a TV show you just binge. Every day you’re like, ‘Oh, new episode.'”
Hathaway embraced the comparison with a smile.
“Just accept it and enjoy it? Okay, that’s great because I love the channel right now, so it’s just more of it. Cool, new cast member.”
Meyers jokingly added that she should tell her first two children they were expanding the family “because you guys are getting stale,” prompting more laughter from the audience.
The actress has also spoken fondly about working with Tom Holland in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic The Odyssey, where Holland portrays her on-screen son, Telemachus. Hathaway recently joked that she hopes all of her children grow up to be as “wonderful” as her “dream son” from the film.
With a new baby on the way and one of the year’s biggest movies set for release, Hathaway has plenty to celebrate both on and off the screen.
