The streamer has announced Sunshine Girls Netflix, a new YA series from digital studio Brat TV. Created by Rob Fishman and Nuria Anson, the series will star Alma Marian, Isabella Fowler and Erin Rose Park and is scheduled to premiere in December.
At the same time, Netflix has revealed new casting information for Minimum Wage, another series with roots in short-form digital entertainment. Actor Randall Park has joined the cast of the workplace comedy, which is set inside a chaotic local pizza shop.
The two projects highlight Netflix’s continued interest in stories and creators who have built connections with younger audiences through digital platforms.

Sunshine Girls Netflix Series Heads to Streaming
Sunshine Girls follows Olivia, a teenager who finds herself adjusting to a completely new environment after her parents separate.
Originally from New York City, Olivia moves to a California suburb and becomes the new student at Valley High. The transition becomes even more complicated as she navigates freshman year, new friendships and the challenges that come with starting over.
At school, Olivia meets Taylor, a horse-loving student played by Isabella Fowler, and Riley, an influencer portrayed by Erin Rose Park. Although the three girls come from very different backgrounds, they eventually form an unlikely friendship.
The series is expected to explore familiar coming-of-age themes, including friendship, family changes, first relationships and the pressures of fitting into a new social environment.
Alma Marian leads the cast as Olivia, while Fowler and Park round out the central trio.
Rob Fishman and Nuria Anson are executive producers on the project. Elisabeth Rogge, Mary Lambert and Gavin Laing are writers, while Alex Tarr is set to direct.
With its high-school setting and digital-media origins, Sunshine Girls Netflix could appeal strongly to viewers looking for a new teen-focused comedy-drama.
Minimum Wage Adds Randall Park
Netflix is also bringing another digital-originated project to its audience with Minimum Wage.
The series comes from American High and is based on a short-form show created for digital audiences. Netflix has ordered 14 episodes, with each episode running approximately 12 and a half minutes.
The story centers on a group of teenage employees working at a local pizza shop. Their everyday lives become increasingly chaotic as they deal with demanding managers, hectic rush periods and the frustrations of working in the service industry.
Randall Park has joined the cast as the manager of the pizza restaurant.
Park will appear alongside members of the original digital series cast, including Aidan Micho, Grace Reiter, Hyde Healy, Julia Dicesare, Luke Burke, Ryan Micho and Tommy Armstrong.
The short episode format gives Minimum Wage a different structure from traditional half-hour workplace comedies. Its quick episodes could also make the series an easy fit for viewers who enjoy fast-paced digital entertainment.
Netflix Continues to Embrace Digital Creators
Both Sunshine Girls and Minimum Wage demonstrate how the entertainment landscape is increasingly connecting streaming platforms with creators who have experience producing content for online audiences.
Brat TV has developed a following through youth-oriented digital programming, while American High has also built projects around short-form storytelling.
For Netflix, bringing these types of projects to its platform provides an opportunity to reach younger viewers with stories designed around contemporary teenage experiences.
The addition of established performers such as Randall Park to Minimum Wage also gives the project a recognizable name while retaining its connection to its digital roots.
When Will Sunshine Girls Premiere?
Netflix has announced that Sunshine Girls is scheduled to premiere in December. A specific release date was not provided in the announcement.
Minimum Wage is also expected to arrive later this year, with 14 episodes planned for its Netflix debut.
As Netflix continues building its YA and comedy offerings, both shows could become interesting additions to the streamer’s upcoming lineup.
For fans of teen dramas, coming-of-age stories and workplace comedies, Sunshine Girls Netflix and Minimum Wage offer two very different takes on stories that originated in the digital entertainment space.
