Scott Wolf’s Wife Kelley Reveals Shocking Diagnosis and Apologizes for Actor’s ‘Nightmare’ Year
Scott Wolf’s wife Kelley Wolf has opened up about the mental health crisis that unfolded publicly following the couple’s highly publicized separation, revealing a diagnosis she says helped explain what she experienced during the turbulent period.
The former Real World star shared an emotional statement on Instagram Friday, saying that after working with doctors, therapists and psychologists, she was diagnosed with “breakthrough drug-induced mania with psychosis.”
Kelley, 49, described the episode as a “perfect storm” that she believes involved a combination of stress, past trauma, hormonal changes, hallucinogens and prescription medications.
She said the experience left her feeling as though her “brain had been hijacked.”

Kelley Wolf Apologizes to Scott Wolf
Alongside revealing her diagnosis, Kelley issued an emotional apology to her estranged husband, actor Scott Wolf, as well as others who were affected by her behavior during the crisis.
She acknowledged that some of the statements and material she shared publicly at the time were not based in reality.
“I am so sorry,” Kelley wrote, describing the experience as a nightmare for Scott that she said would not even belong in a movie script.
She also reflected on how dramatically her behavior had changed.
Kelley said she had spent her life believing in love, hope, kindness and compassion, but acknowledged that during the crisis she felt she had become the opposite.
Her post marked a significant moment of reflection after a difficult year for the family.
Scott and Kelley Wolf’s Marriage and Separation
Scott Wolf and Kelley married in 2004 and were together for more than two decades. They share three children: sons Jackson and Miller and daughter Lucy.

Kelley announced their separation in June 2025 after 21 years of marriage. Scott later confirmed that he had filed for divorce, describing the decision as “the most difficult decision of my life.”
The split quickly became a highly publicized family situation.
Shortly afterward, Kelley was placed on a psychiatric hold at a Utah hospital after a friend requested a wellness check. She subsequently shared a series of messages and videos on social media as the situation continued to unfold.
Scott was later granted a temporary restraining order and temporary custody of their three children.
Kelley Says It Took Time to Understand What Happened
In her latest statement, Kelley acknowledged that understanding the severity of what had happened was not immediate.
She began her message by saying she had taken numerous deep breaths before writing about the experience.
“It’s been a year since I recognized what everyone around me could see: I was not well, and I needed help,” she wrote.

Her comments suggest that the past year has involved significant reflection and professional treatment as she has worked to understand the episode and its impact on those around her.
Kelley was also arrested in August 2025 over alleged online harassment and doxxing involving friends and family members. The following month, she was admitted to a mental health facility again and placed under a court-ordered involuntary psychiatric hold following an evaluation.

Scott Wolf Shows Support for Kelley
Despite the painful circumstances surrounding their separation, Scott and Kelley have appeared to make efforts toward a more peaceful family relationship.
Earlier this year, the former couple reunited with their three children for a family outing at Universal Studios.
Scott had previously described 2025 as the “hardest year of my life.” He explained that he shared photographs from the family outing because he believed their family deserved the opportunity to move forward rather than remain in an “awful dark place.”
Scott also appeared to acknowledge Kelley’s latest statement publicly.

The Doc star responded to her emotional Instagram post with five red heart emojis, a small but notable gesture amid the family’s complicated circumstances.
For Kelley, the public admission appears to represent an important step toward understanding a period she now says was profoundly affected by a serious mental health episode.
